Term 3 Week 5

We had a quiz on that day and most of the question i do not know how to answer. I learnt that Elvis didn't apprciate things that he have such as his cadillac as he drove it at a speed of hundred and five miles/hour and it blew up like Cape Canaveral which is where NASA rockets blast off.

Term 3 week 4

On that day we learnt that Elvis misses his mom badly as he wasn't there when his mum passed away. At first, I felt pity for him as he lost his mum and can't visit her as he was at the US Army.After reading more about the text,I learnt that Elvis wasn't at the US Army for serving the nation but he was there as a performer.He even used an excuse to take drugs that he need that stuff to take the pain away and forget all this hurtful memories but he was just running away from his problems.

I think that drugs is not the solution for problems no matter how hard or easy it is,there is still many ways to solve it and drugs is not one of them.

Term 3 Week 3

We learnt that Elvis treat his love ones differently when he was young. we also learnt that Elvis wasn't borned with a silver spoon as his family is poor as the text said that,"......there is barely a car in the block except for his Cadillac." I just knew that Elvis had a twin brother,Jesse,whom had passed away when he was a baby.

When Elvis was lying on bed, he told his mum that they will leave in a mansion one day. Then Gladys say she want a chandelier on the house. Elvis say she can have it anywhere she want. This shows that when Elvis was young,he treated his loved ones caringly but when he was old , he treated everyone badly and uncaringly espcially Redhead.

Term 3 week 2

After reading the text given to us which is Are You Lonesome Tonight, I understand and learnt more about Elvis Presley and the play. I learnt that Elvis Presley is known as King Of Rock And Roll. I also learnt that he had a child who later married Michael Jackson who is known as the King Of Pop.

From scene 1,I can see that Elvis did not treated Redhead very well and he thought that she only cared about his money just like his friends. He thought that Redhead wanted to be with him just because of his fame and money but he was wrong.Redhead realy cared for him as when she wanted to talk to Elvis,all Elvis said was what she want? A gold watch or cadillac? As he thought that Readhead was a money-minded.I also learnt that Elvis Died due to overdose of drugs.

Term 3 Week 1

I lost track of what i learnt in class on different lessons and i will try to update my lerning log after every lit lesson.

On that day,Mr.Chua brought us to the art gallery and in our groups,he asked us to decide what play would we act and who should take what role.My groupmates are Joel,Sarah,Daniel,Mawarni,Karwai,Farhan,Jun Yan,Veronica and Jasmine. Then We had to decide who shall take part in roles in the play such as the actors and stage managers.We decided that we will do the play,Romeo and Juliet.My role is the actor and I will be acting as Romeo.

I think that this semesters'play will be much better as we have experienced what it is to act a play and infront of the class.From there we know what are our negative points and will try to improve it so that we can score better marks for our exams. Furthermore i have confidence that i will do better for this semester in this play.

16th literature lesson

We had to do filing on that day as Miss Malyana told us that there will be file check next week. I received back my brochure and was happy that Miss Malyana said that my poem was beautiful :D

The filing takes such a long time till that was the only thing we did other than receiving back the worksheets we did on prevuos literature lessons like the brochure.

15th literature lesson

Today Miss Malyana showed us examples of the Macbeth scene from overseas and it gave an idea of what the play would look like. She then told us to form a group of three people with at least 1 member who is of different race.My group mates are Zheng Yuan And Yih Chyuan.We plan to practice our play on Monday.We wil be acting next thursday so we have to practice hard given the limited time. We were told that our costumes mst be made up of recycled materials and costumes rented from shopes or homemade. Now I am preparing for the act.

14th literature lesson

As today we know that we will be acting,I was so excited about it and i can't wait to perform infront of my classmates. First Miss Malyana asked us to move our tables to the side so that we will have some space to move around at the center of the class. She then asked us for 10 volunteers to come into the centre of the class and try out the walking speed that she taught us on the previous literature lesson.Its quite funny to see my classmates walking at different speed individually. She then asked a volunteer to start a character and ask everyone to keep on adding characters to the current scene. Zuhairi volunteered to act the first character as he said that he love acting.He acted as a model and start to cat walk and do poses around the class followed by Sabrina who acted as the second model.Then more of us acted different characters into the scene. I think that this lesson is the lesson I enjoyed the most so far :)

13th literature lesson

On that day,MR.Chua gave the class back the test paper.I didn't get my test paper as i was absent for the test. After the class have done corrections for the test and checked their marks to see of it is correctly calculated.When I looked at the test paper, I saw that the points that I have studied all came out and i knew if i have tooked the i will pass:D Its ok there is still the mid year exam:) After Mr Chua had collected the papers, Ms. Malyana took over the class and thaught us how to act. She thaught us that different characters have different walking speed. The speed ranges from 1-5. Speed 1 is usually for characters who is old or feeling sad. Speed 3 is a neutral walking speed which means normal walking speed. Speed 5 is for characters who is probaly a gangster or is rushing for something for example late for school. she is teaching us how to act as we need to act the story macbeth which involves 3 witches in our scene that we are acting.

10th,11th and 12th literature lesson

I was absent and missed a lot of my exams including literature.I also missed a few literature lessons. On that day, Miss Malyana gave us a paper and told us to fold it.The paper is printed on 2 pages like a brochure. She then asked us to find 5 boys and 5 girls and ask them what personality would they like to find in their future partner.She then thaught us that Greek believes in different levels of love.There are a total of 4 levels.Next, Ms.Malyana blindfolded us with a peice of cloth and ask us to imagined a place where we want to be.Then she asked us to see,hear,smell,taste or touch whatever is around us And a lot more.She then gave us a peice of paper with questions like what did we saw in our "tour" at the place where we want to be.I wrote whatever i saw in my imaginations at the place and hand it in to her.

9th Literature lesson

Onthat ady,Mr Chua told us what Romeo said to Juliet when he first saw her.He also gave pictures to help us remember them. Such a resourceful teacher. these are what Romeo said to Juliet.


"Oh, She doth teach the torches to burn bright"
It means Juliet is brighter than the torch

"It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear.
It means Juliet Shines and Sparkle like dimonds in the sky at night.

"So shows a snowy Dove trroping amongst crow,
As yonder lady over a her fellow show"
It means Juliet is a dove if compared to other ladies in the ball which is a crows to Juliet

8th literature lesson

Mr Chua told us to get into pairs which is also known as "Bravo" formation.He then assigned us into different character and asked us to write down in a mind map the charaters traits of the character that we are assigned to.My character was Lord Capulet.He also asked us to design our mind map into a nice one rather than the simple mindmap we usually do.After that, he asked us to combine our work with our partner and staple it all together including our works.I know that If we did the mindmap,We will know more about the story, Romeo and Juliet.I realised that after every story that Mr Chua thaught us, there is always somthing that he will emphasised on such as about the story,Merchant of Venice, Mr emphasised about the word Mercy and how at can be applied in our daily life.He also told us not to be racist like Antonio in that story who is racist with the Jews.OK thats all for today.Ny the way i heard that the new teacher in our class is a trainee teacher.Welcome to the class Miss Malyana.

7th Literatuer lesson

On that day,Mr Chua told us a new story called Romoe And Juliet.at first i heard that the story is just about Romeo trying to marry Juliet but now I know that The story is about romance. Mr.Chua told us the details of the story such as the character traits of each character which is romeo ,Juliet ,Lord Capulet ,His cousin and Tybalt. Mr Chua also showed us a video clip of the story.It gave me a better view of the scene now. Next,We had to saty back after school because of the lesson replaced on the school 10th Aniversary.Mt Chua brought us to the Movers and Shakers gallery.He said that literature not just teach u about the stories such as Romeo And Juliet .He gave us a worksheet and said that literature also teaches u about qualaties in life such as mercy.He gave us that paper as to find the answers to the questions whici we can find there.Now I realy know understand what Literature is all about.

6th Literature Lesson

Today we learnt more about the story Merchant Of Venice.After reading the story,we thought that Shylock was the villian and Antonio was the hero.We thought that Antonio was a hero because he borrowed money from Shylock so that Bassanio could get married with Portia and if he failed to pay back what he owed Shylock, Shylock will have to cut a pound of flesh from Antonio's body.

After reading the text which Mr.Chua gave us, we then new that Antonio is the villian because he called Shylock a misbeleive and a cut-throat dog.He even spit at Sylock Jewish clothes.I think that we should be racist towards other religon but respect them and do not call people names.Its such a rude thing to do to spit and people's religon clothes.If singapore is not a multi-racial country who we singaporeans respects each other,there will be many riots and soon war will start with our neighbouring countries.

This Literature lesson can be improve If Mr.Chua show us a video of the story so that we will understand more about he story.We would then have a better view of the story.

5th Literature Lesson

Mr Chua taught us about the word Mercy.He asked us to write down of we think the definition of Mercy is and write an example too.I learned that the definition of mercy is leniency and compassion shown toward offenders by a person or agency charged with administering justice. To me,Mercy is like disposition to be kind and forgiving.

4th Literature Lesson

Mr. Chua brought us to the art gallery near our classroom to us some of us to act the play.After acting as the Duke,I learnt more about the play,Merchant of venice, as some of us act out the scene. I felt that acting out the scene is better than imagining what the scene looks like.

3rd Literature Lesson

Mr. Chua was not present on that day so miss Shala came in for him.She told us a short story of Macbeth so that we understand a bit of the play.She then ask 3 of the students to read the script about the play,Merchant of venice.She also gave us homework which is to draw what we imagine that scene 1 of
Merchant of venice would be.

2nd Literature Lesson

On that day,we learnt a story called Merchant of venice.It is a play by William Shakespear. I realised that all the script that William Shakespear had written in that play were rhyming words at the end of each sentences. So it is like he waas writing a poem.

Term 1 week 1

On our first literature lesson, we learn something about cinquain. Cinquain is a stanza of five lines ;specifically, one that has successive lines of two, four, six, eight, and two syllables. I did my cinquain wrongly and had to do correction but never mind i will learn from my mistake and try to do better next time ; )
